Information

Welcome!

In 1933, Wesley "Pop" Swenson had a dream. He wanted to serve folks the best hamburger possible, insisting on fresh beef ground in-house to ensure the best quality burgers.

Together with Guy Whitt, a local butcher, Pop developed a great tasting hamburger recipe using special cuts of beef and a signature grinding method. After selling burgers out of his station wagon at the local high school for a year, he decided to open a small store in the Wallhaven neighborhood of Akron, Ohio. The year was 1934, and the first Swensons restaurant was opened. Pop made sure that all of the ingredients were fresh and the buns were baked daily.

Over the years, Pop grew his restaurant into Swensons Drive-In; home of the Galley Boy, the signature double cheeseburger with two secret sauces. Swensons is a place where you drive up, flash your lights and a wholesome, smiling curb server sprints to your car to serve you. Each server is personally dedicated to making your visit memorable. Pop took care to add a few surprising touches to the menu as well, like the olive on a toothpick topping the Galley Boy.

Still to this day, Swensons Drive-In embrace the values that were important to Pop. We continue to incorporate our legacy of creating lasting memories for our guests and with great pride, we guarantee an unbeatable level of service, uncompromising quality standards, and unparalleled value.
