Purpose:
T&J Heating, A/C and Plumbing is a full-service heating, air conditioning and plumbing organization, providing new installation, repairs and ongoing maintenance services to commercial and residential clients throughout New England.
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Lead Technician to join our growing team to install, troubleshoot, service, inspect, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems while ensuring safe condition and operation of all HVAC systems across our customer base.
Responsibilities:
- Assist supervisor with the recruitment, technical training and support of lower level staff
- Independently install, troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, chillers, water cooling towers, forced air converter units, pumps, automatic and hand valves, expansion valves and capillary tubes
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, isolated heating and ventilating units, including boilers, gas and electrically operated air conditioning equipment, and make necessary adjustments or repairs
- Perform skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation and alteration of HVAC equipment
- Received and complete daily work orders
- Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates for management
- Maintain accurate records on material and labor used
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment and materials
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean
- Work with customers and supervisors to ensure project completion has met or exceeded customer expectations
- Respond to emergency calls as needed
- Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment
- Correct any unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
- Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area
- Other duties may include working in the other areas of the company to provide support during absences, staff shortages in other trades or to perform duties associated with light construction projects
Requirements
- Valid drivers license and ability to drive a company truck or van
- 3+ years experience as an HVAC Technician
- Rotate through an on call after hours service
- Experience with HVAC repairs, maintenance and installation techniques
- Knowledge of HVAC codes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
- Ability to work independently
- Experience with using hand and power tools; pipe bender, propane torch
- Experience with maintaining a safe work environment
