Purpose:
T&J Heating, A/C and Plumbing is a full-service heating, air conditioning and plumbing organization, providing new installation, repairs and ongoing maintenance services to commercial and residential clients throughout New England.
We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Journeyman to join our growing team. You will plan, lay out, repair and install sheet metal products and parts while ensuring safe condition and operation of all systems across our customer base.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, training and instruction for junior members of the Sheet Metal Team
- Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how and where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products
- Measure, mark dimensions and lay out material to be installed using tools such as scribes, rulers, calculators and squares
- Fasten joints and seams in sheet metal with solder, welds, caulk, bolts and metal driver clips, ensuring work is done carefully and bonds will last
- Install assemblies, including pipes, HVAC ducts, flashings and furnace casings in supportive frameworks
- Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file and grind metal surfaces and joints of parts that have been assembled to ensure safety and a seamless appearance
- Select the appropriate type and gauge of sheet metal to be used in projects according to specifications
- Receive and complete daily work orders
- Maintain accurate records on material and labor used
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment and materials
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean
- Work with customers and supervisors to ensure project completion has met or exceeded customer expectations
- Respond to emergency calls as needed
- Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment
- Correct any unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
- Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area
- Other duties may include working in the other areas of the company to provide support during absences, staff shortages in other trades or to perform duties associated with light construction projects
Requirements
- Maintain a valid drivers license and ability to drive a company truck or van
- Maintain a valid Massachusetts Sheet Metal Master license
- Experience with Sheet Metal assembly, installation and maintenance techniques
- Knowledge of Sheet Metal codes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
- Ability to work independently
- Experience with Sheet Metal tools and equipment
- Experience with maintaining a safe work environment
