Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Have at least 7-10 years of work experience in a similar role ideally in a like industry.
  • Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write Standard Procedures, Work Instructions, Forms, Test Methods in a professional manner.
  • Ability to read production drawings.
  • Required to work and promote a team environment.
  • Willingness to be flexible and learn new tasks.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with measurement devices including a tape measure, calipers, and height gauges.
  • Computer skills; Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint and SolidWorks experience mandatory Understanding of heat distortion from the welding process.
Requirements

 Function & ResponsibilityManufacturing Engineer produces CAD, manufacturing drawings, and manufacturing plans including router and BOM. CAD modeling is performed in SolidWorks and stored in the PDM vault for version/revision control. This is a fast-paced manufacturing environment that requires large projects, mainly vacuum chambers, to flow through the engineering department in a matter of weeks. The Manufacturing Engineer must know how to apply tolerances to drawings that allow the manufacturing of components subjected to a combination of machining and welding. Fixture requirements must be determined based on the cost of fixture vs time saved using fixture; most jobs are less than quantity 5, often quantity 1. Routed steps and associated instructions are reviewed with production to verify logic. The manufacturing engineer must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and capable of prioritizing their own work.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage design projects (design plans) from modeling and drawing to final inspection and shipping.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials, and parts.
  • Review and improve manufacturing methods and procedures
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Develop and maintain catalog for production fixtures (machining, welding, assembly).
  • Contribute and maintain ISO standards; correct issues found during internal/external audits.
  • Revamp models and drawings used in assembly.
  • Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing and conduct 5S exercises.
  • Be an active member on/in material review board (MRB), quote meetings, engineering design meetings, etc.
