Lyra Therapeutics, Inc. is a clinical-stage therapeutics company leveraging its proprietary XTreo™ platform to enable precise, sustained, local delivery of medications to diseased tissues not accessible with conventional therapeutic approaches. Lyra's XTreo™ platform is comprised of a biocompatible mesh scaffold, an engineered elastomeric matrix and a versatile polymer-drug complex. The company's current pipeline of therapeutics target tissues deep in the ear, nose and throat passages and are designed to deliver continuous drug therapy for up to six months following a single non-invasive, in-office administration. Lyra's lead product candidate, LYR-210, has initiated a Phase 3 clinical trial for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) as an alternative to primary sinus surgery. Lyra's second product candidate, LYR-220, is entering Phase 3 clinical development and is designed to be an alternative to revision CRS sinus surgery and post-surgical medical management.  Headquartered in the Boston area, Lyra Therapeutics was founded by George Whitesides and Robert Langer, academic luminaries in the fields of chemistry, materials science and biotechnology.


Our team is growing, and we are currently seeking an experienced Associate Director, Product Education to ensure successful investigator training and clinical product placement in support of Lyra’s multiple ongoing trials along with managing our clinical field support team.  Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Clinical Affairs, the successful candidate will be a team player with experience in a fast-growing combination drug product company, and possess the ability to successfully collaborate both internally and externally. This role will be responsible for leading the Product Education function and the Clinical Field Specialist team.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the product education function to ensure successful clinical use and placement of the LYR-210 and LYR-220 products 
  • Develop strategies and operational plans to support and oversee clinical treatment procedures
  • Partner with internal cross-functional team members to identify support structure & logistics for supporting investigator training 
  • Manage direct reports within the clinical field support team
  • Establish objectives for team to be successful in achieving corporate goals 
  • Review, approve, and provide guidance on clinical field support expenses 
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Strategy & Market Development team to collect investigator feedback on product use, refine product education, and support trade show / education events 
  • Collaborate with the Product Development team on collecting user feedback of product performance
  • Assist in the hiring of clinical field specialists by defining role, performing interviews, and overseeing on-boarding and education of new hires
  • Work with outside organizations to back fill the clinical field support team with contract field specialists when needed 
  • Oversee continuous improvement activities to advance the investigator training curriculum, supporting documentation, and success of clinical enrollments  
  • Provide product training and enrollment support in the field when required 
  • Provide senior leadership with periodic reports on organizational and clinical trial enrollment updates
Requirements
  • BS or MS in Engineering, Biology, Nursing, or a related scientific field with 10+ years of medical device/product education experience, ideally including clinical trial and commercial use; ENT experience preferred
  • Experienced physician educator with combination products featuring medical device constituents
  • Experience with managing direct reports, setting yearly objectives, and providing routine feedback on performance and professional growth
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills including writing, presenting, and negotiating
  • Ability to lead and provide guidance to multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and lead a team of clinical field specialists in support of corporate goals
  • Experience training surgeons/physicians and effectively using strong interpersonal skills/diplomacy, and negotiation skills to influence and accomplish desired results 
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills who enjoys working in a highly dynamic, cross-disciplinary environment
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (30-50% travel)
