Apprenticeship ~ LPN
Description

The Practical Nurse apprentice will rotate in 4-6 nursing areas of choice under the direct supervision of an RN or the director of the department. The apprentice will spend 2-4 weeks observing and practicing direct nursing care for individual clients with a well-defined nursing diagnosis. The apprentice communicates with and on behalf of the client, and coordinates client care with all health team members. The apprentice organizes those aspects of nursing care for which s/he is accountable in a specific work period.  The student can apply for the apprenticeship during the time they are receiving their education and once licensed within the board of nursing can obtain on the job training paid hours.

Requirements

  

Minimum Certification/Licenses Requirements: Student or graduate of an accredited school of nursing; eligible or currently licensed as a professional nursing in the State of South Dakota.  ACLS certification preferred.
 

Preferred Experience: 1-year prior Certified Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
