The Community Engagement Manager is a full-time, exempt position responsible for growing and diversifying our audience base. This person will focus on building an audience for our mainstage programs that represents the greater Boston community. They will manage public art initiatives in a way that encourages access and inclusion for community members. This role is responsible for cultivating community partnerships, establishing a presence at community events, and proactively gathering feedback to help increase Boston Ballet’s relevance to our community.


  • Create and execute a community outreach strategy that helps raise awareness about the organization and its assorted programming.
  • Organize public art and community initiatives and at events that support our brand, vision, and values.
  • Manage the Group Sales Associate to support sales and customer experience for groups.
  • Foster positive and collaborative relationships with community residents, local nonprofit organizations, businesses, and student organizations. Special focus should be paid to underrepresented groups.
  • Network with local artists and community leaders to identify opportunities for artistic collaboration.
  • Work with the Box Office to manage ticket subsidies and bulk ticket sales for community groups. 
  • Develop and implement a strategic marketing plan to generate group ticket sales focused on serving the community. 
  • Attend day/weekend/evening performances when necessary to liaison with community group leaders and members.
  • Take on a leadership role in the organization’s ongoing diversity, inclusion, and equity initiatives. For example, leading one of the organization’s cross-functional teams focused on improving organizational processes.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience preferred 
  • Minimum 5+ year of administrative experience 
  • Deep connections in Boston community programming and experience organizing community events 
  • Strong awareness of Boston cultural and civic happenings. Boston resident preferred.
  • High level of comfort working with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds; multilingual skills a plus
  • Efficient and proactive problem solver with strong organization and communication skills
  • High level of competency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Tessitura a plus 
  • Enthusiasm for arts and community work
  • Flexibility, positive attitude, and good work ethic
  • Boston Ballet offers flexible work options. This role may require some evening and weekend availability.
