REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Teacher Certification or Substitute Certification (preferred)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in technology 
  • Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of Criminal Background Check and complete required trainings and orientations.

REPORTS TO:  Dean of Academics


CONTRACT TERMS: This is a contract, per diem position.  


EXPECTATIONS

  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic Education and the mission of the school.
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Upholds the Code of Ethics for Educators and practices the characteristics of a Marianist Education.
  • Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, and employees of Central Catholic.
  • Follows all rules and regulations concerning staff conduct, appropriate dress, and other responsibilities as set forth in the staff handbook and by the administration.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Implement lessons provided by the teacher and student engagement and achievement of course outcomes.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment and positive student behaviors.
  • Take student attendance for each period
  • Enforce Central Catholic policies regarding student dress and comportment.
  • Carry out other school duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of basic teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skill in organizing and relating information in an understandable format.
  • Skill in job-appropriate equipment.
  • Skill in critical thinking and planning.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively with others in the school community.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and student management system.
  • Flexibility and patience.
  • Required to manage low to moderate levels of stress.

MENTAL/ PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak daily.
  • Frequent walking and ability to climb multiple flights of stairs.
  • Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding, and use of a mouse.
  • Reaching and moving equipment/boxes up to 35 lbs.
  • Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather.

COMPENSATION:

• $85/day
