JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Diagnostic Outpatient Imaging (DOI) Teach Manager. The MRI Technologist operates MR equipment to obtain high quality MRI imaging as ordered by the physicians. The MRI Technologist prepares patients, processes images, and assists physicians as needed. The MRI Tech ensures proper patient preparation, verifies screening protocols, and answers questions. Collaborates with staff, executive management, physicians, and technical staff to ensure that patient care is being provided with quality and optimum patient satisfaction. This includes monitoring effectiveness based on knowledge of best practices and adheres to supervisor guidance and regulations set by regulatory agencies.

MRI Tech
- Perform imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of our Radiologist.
- Operate MRI equipment to make high quality images scans of designated portions of the body, Checks for priors, and patient medical history.
- Demonstrate knowledge in all terminology related to radiography, anatomy, and pathology.
- Complete and sign Patient Screening forms. Instruct and explain procedures to patients, including post procedure care, as necessary. Adhere to radiologic exam standards and guidelines to ensure the optimum in-patient safety and care.
- Adjust equipment and patient to correct positions for each examination. Arrange, attach, or adjust immobilization and supportive devices to obtain precise position, prevent motion and aid in patient comfort.
- Select proper technical factors, on an individual patient basis.
- Perform reconstruction and special processing of data.
- Under guidance and approval of on-site Radiologist, administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocols.
- Verifies the chart for priority, date, ordering comments, physician’s notes, precautions, and patient consent forms.
- Verify and confirm doctor orders and create tasks/requests for any prior image comparisons that may be needed.
- Practice sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination free condition of room, equipment and personnel. Maintains a clean environment inside of facility
- Perform equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team members.
- Follows quality assurance guidelines.
- Follows Universal Protocol at all times to ensure correct patient, correct procedure, and correct side.
- Ensures procedure charges, to include supplies used, are entered correctly and in a timely manner.
- Use interpersonal skills effectively to build and maintain cooperative working relationships within and outside of the radiology department.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Perform additional duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES:

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
May assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the DOI Executive Leadership Team.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree or Diploma in Radiological Technology from an accredited program.
- ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT (MR) Required.
- State licensed to work as a MRI Technologist
- IV Skills required
- CPR and BLS certification
- Two (2) years MRI related experience required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills required, with ability to interact at all levels and be able to get along with diverse personalities.
- High degree of confidentiality and ethics needed.
- Digital Imaging skills.
- Ability to manage Radiographic equipment.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Ability to position patient and adjust equipment to produce desired or optimum image of desired anatomy.
- Must have analytical ability and be detailed oriented, well-organized and be able to handle multiple priorities.
- Must be able to work under pressure with constant interruptions.
- Must be able to work independently and autonomously.
- Must be able to make sound judgments, have excellent decision-making skills, and possess strong conflict resolution skills.
- Must have working knowledge of operation of personal computer and MS Office software.
- Must have access to vehicle and possess valid driver's license and sufficient liability insurance.
