Whisker is based in Auburn Hills, Michigan and Juneau, Wisconsin with 350+ passionate Team Members. 

What You’ll Do:

You will be the resident subject-matter expert on the Company’s ERP system and financial reporting over plant operations. This team is responsible for the assembly of Whisker’s highly functional appliance-grade products as well as for the distribution of its great pet accessories and furniture.  This role will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer located in Auburn Hills, MI and will work locally under the guidance of the Vice President of Manufacturing and Fulfillment. You will manage cost accounting, inventory control, internal controls, and bill-of-materials cost management. 

  • Will work closely with the Vice President of Manufacturing and Fulfillment to ensure the profitability and efficiency of plant operations 
  • Completes monthly financial closing and analysis activities to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of operations at the plant level
  • Manages reporting for the operational P&L including component cost, labor recognition and provide reports to the Juneau Operations Team
  • Subject-matter expert in the company’s ERP system (SAPB1) as it relates to inventory costing, cost variances, bills-of-materials and inventory controls
  • Will establish best practices with Director of Supply Chain to ensure cash flow and purchasing goals and objectives are achieved
  • Responsible for bill-of-materials management ensuring that components are accurately accounted for, while analyzing for continuous cost improvement opportunities
  • Responsible for accounting for all inbound freight at the item level to ensure that landed costs are accurately reflected
  • Collaborates with supply chain team to ensure that purchase price variances and benchmarking meet objectives
  • Ensures inventory is properly reconciled, managed and reported, including monitoring of physical and cycle counting programs 
  • Works closely with Director-Plant Operations to optimize the labor efficiency of the plant by providing analysis of current expenses and identifying variances.  Ensures recording of labor expenses are accurate
  • Monitors and implements plant internal controls as necessary to ensure financial reporting accuracy and safeguarding of assets
  • Analyzes and communicates variances to management with respect to plant operations
  • Maintains records and analysis on outside storage facilities, partners, and third party logistics programs
  • Monitors and analyzes customer returns to identify areas for improvement.  Ensures parcel damage claims are being processed timely 
  • Manages required reporting for government grants received for building projects to ensure deliverables are met
  • Ability to use data mined from various resources and communicate reporting needs to data engineering team
  • Ability to understand technologies that enable automation of systems and processes

What You’ll Bring:

  • BA/BS in Business Management with a focus in Accounting and/or equivalent years of experience
  • Expert-level ERP knowledge, preferably with SAP Business One (SAPB1 9.0 or higher)
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and other business intelligence tools (Domo, Looker, Tableau)
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage ambiguity, and adapt with the business as it evolves over time
  • Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptions
  • Demonstrated success managing a small team, collaborating and driving cross-functional consensus, effectively communicating to all levels/functions
  • High degree of initiative, self-motivation and ability to motivate others
  • Ability to clearly communicate needs for support, information, or data in a timely manner
