Primary Position Duties:
Transfers materials and products to and from machinery and equipment, using industrial trucks or hand trucks.
Inspects materials and products for defects, including but not limited to markings on printed items, sequential integrity, no gusset (wrinkles) within the finished product, and to ensure conformance to specifications.
Cleans and maintains machinery, equipment, and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions.
Records production and operational data, such as amount of materials processed.
Identifies and marks materials, products, and samples, following instructions.
Adds chemicals, solutions, or ingredients to machines or equipment as required by the manufacturing process.
Reads instructions from the work order form and through the direction of the 1st pressman sets or assists in the set-up during make-ready of the delivery end of press.
Performs all duties as directed and assigned by Press Operator or supervisor related to the make-ready of a press.
Performs all duties as directed and assigned by Press Operator or supervisor related to the clean-up of a press.
Assists when required any skilled and qualified personnel who are performing preventive maintenance on press such as lubrication, replacement of small parts, replacement of rollers etc. Also works in conjunction with maintenance man to keep equipment in good running condition, as directed by the Press Operator.
Cleans up and keeps immediate work area neat and orderly.
Works with 1st pressman, supervisors, managers, customer service reps, sales persons, fellow coworkers and customers in a respectful cooperative manner.
Performs tasks such as 1st pressman, jogger, roll tender, warehouse person, trimmer or work in hand bindery when called upon, and if trained or directed by Press Operator.
Generally should know capabilities of press, type of folds the press is able to deliver, the pagination, and maximum number of webs, max number of colors, sheeting etc.
Performs other job duties as assigned.
Qualified applicants must:
Be able to pass a pre-employment background check
Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. routinely
Be able to operate a pallet jack, or be willing to learn
Be able to operate a forklift, or be willing to learn
