JOB DESCRIPTION:  Registered Nurse Clinical Educator

The Registered Nurse Clinical  Educator will be responsible for oversight of the development and implementation of educational training for registered nurses, empowering staff to confidently work at the top of their scope and provide quality passionate patient care. The Registered Nurse Clinical Educator will collaborate with clinical leadership to identify training needs for new and existing nursing staff. The Registered Nurse Clinical educator will maintain and monitor the delivery, effectiveness, and quality of the training program and identify solutions to challenges. 


These responsibilities are performed under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and within the context of collaboration with the Clinical Educator.

Registered Nurse Clinical  Educator 

  • Facilitates the development, maintenance, and implementation of the onboarding curriculum for Registered Nurses.
  • Develops needs assessment, training plan, and curriculum in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and Director of Clinical Administration. 
  • Designs and continuously improves and adapts curriculum based on the assessment of educational needs, core competencies, and industry best practices.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the onboarding training program for Registered Nurses.
  • Assists in the development of teaching and learning aids such as tutorials, multimedia presentations, and other training materials.
  • Teaches courses and provides training to RN staff. 
  • Supports the clinical care team by serving as a mentor to nurses within the clinical setting. 
  • Assumes other duties in support of ResolutionCare’s needs as directed by the Director of Clinical Administration, Medical Director, or Director of Nursing.

Environmental Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Works with Palliative Care patients remotely wherever they reside or are receiving care, including homes, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, and residential care for the elderly facilities.
  • Successfully performs the essential duties and responsibilities of the position through the use of physical activities as described below:
    • Regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, talking, use of hands, listening, and observing.
    • Regularly requires working at a computer for an entire shift (with appropriate breaks).
  • Regularly requires the use of telephone and laptop.
  • Requires use of video-conferencing technology.
  • Occasionally requires reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and lifting items weighing 25 pounds or less.
  • Potentially performs procedures or other tasks that could involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or other potentially infectious materials.
  • If an in-person visit is required for a bed-bound or chair-bound patient, the nurse might occasionally need to provide care that could include providing care for bed-bound and chair-bound patients, including pulling patients to the side of the bed on a draw sheet to a sitting position from the supine, or forward and up out of bed or a chair in preparation for performing a standing pivot transfer.
  • Occasional travel may be required to perform job duties, attend training, or company events and requires attendees to be fully vaccinated.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a current, valid license as a registered nurse in the state of California.
  • 1-3 years of experience working as a registered nurse in a clinical setting within the previous 3 years.  
  • Current California driver’s license, proof of acceptable automobile insurance coverage, and reliable transportation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Positive interpersonal skills required
  • Must have general computer skills and a working knowledge of MS Office and the internet

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in hospice, palliative care, oncology, or home health.
  • Strong computer skills with specific skills in EHR - Athena and/or Google Workplace
  • Previous experience in a teaching setting is preferred. 
  • CHPN certification or equivalent 

Position Location, Reporting, and Travel Requirements

  • This position is virtual/remote.
  • Occasional travel may be required to perform job duties, attend training, professional conferences, or company events. 
  • Evidence of compliance with CDC recommendations for COVID-19 and other vaccinations is preferred and may be required to support the ability to perform job duties.
