Conference Services Assistant

 Job Summary: The purpose of this  position is to provide excellent customer service to the Institute guests assuring meeting rooms are safely set-up as requested. 

This is a full time benefited position and will be posted until filled

Essential Responsibilities:

  •         Finalize details for select groups   
  •         Ensure Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) are accurate when applicable
  •         Thorough knowledge of meeting space capacities, menu items, AV equipment, meeting room set-up options
  •         Communicate with immediate supervisor regarding all problems or unusual matters of significance
  •         Follow-up on progress of groups booked such as rooming lists, deadlines, etc. if applicable

 Employee must safely perform the following essential duties:

  •      Set up meeting rooms (move/transport furniture, equipment, etc.)
  •      Clean meeting rooms
  •      Lock facilities when needed
  •      Check fitness center
  •      Assist with minor repairs and guest requests (lodging tv’s, door locks, reset room locks, etc.)
  •      Other duties as assigned

Employee must safely and properly perform the following physical tasks:

  •      Utilize/operate equipment needed for room set-up (ladders, audio/visual)
  •      Stand/walk for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours per day)
  •      Lift up to 65lbs.
  •      Bend, kneel, stoop, push, pull, reach, and climb ladder

Employee must safely and properly tolerate the following environmental factors:

  •      Loud noises associated with job duties
  •      Smells and odors related to job duties

Required experience:  Must demonstrate computer skills, the ability to communicate in both written and spoken word, and be familiar with Microsoft office applications.

Required Education:  High school diploma or GED

Preferred Experience:  previous experience in conference and hospitality 

Preferred Education:  Associate's degree
