Job Summary: The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for development and monitoring of construction costs, development of quantity take-offs and support claim resolution.


  • Develop or identify and support the procurement of a robust cost estimating tool.
  • Develop or adapt cost estimating procedure for the Company. 
  • Price/forecast the cost of the different materials needed for projects
  • Develop cost estimates for projects in different stages of development 
  • Review and verify contractor cost estimates
  • Evaluate claims
  • Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work
  • Advise on a procurement strategy
  • Communicate or meet with contractors to gather status information to prepare a cost estimate update.
  • Coordinate all sources of cost information for cost discussions and suppliers direct from NPA, subs,  quantities from A/Es,.
  • Inform and drive engineering priorities based on cost impact.
  • Identify, analyze, and develop responses to commercial risks
  • Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes
  • Support contract negotiations 
  • Prepares bills of quantities from specifications and drawings
  • Writes detailed progress reports
  • Works within strict safety, health, and environment guidelines
  • Support development of Tender Documents 
  • Update budget based on documented changes in design 
  • Develop procedures to measure and value the work done on site
  • Review Applications for Payments
  • Inform and drive engineering priorities based on cost impact.
  • Work proactively with minimal supervision to resolve scheduling issues.
  • Manage cost checks and carry out valuations on larger projects. Complete timely, accurate cost checking and valuation processes.
  • Participate effectively with post contract cost variances and the change control processes.
  • Manage Cost impact / contingency management and commitment tracking logs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Work Authorization

Must be authorized to work in assigned location. 


· Bachelor's degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction.

· Construction estimating 

· A minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience working in a construction cost management role.
