The Software Quality Engineer (SQE) will join a cross-functional team responsible for building new and amazing enhancements to Meow Wolf’s customer experiences. This role is essential in supporting the development of next-generation products that integrate cutting edge technology into the broader Meow Wolf experience.

As SQE you will monitor the development process and ensure the quality of our platforms and workflows related to pushing code and software updates while initiating tests, analyzing results, and finding solutions to technical problems. You will be responsible for discovering design issues and software errors while testing a product's user interface (UI) and gauging the user experience (UX). This position will require teamwork and collaboration to maintain an efficient workflow. 


You will drive innovation and streamline the testing process to ensure the quality of all approved software releases.
How you will do it…

  • Plan

-  Plan and perform different stages of testing

-  Prepare and develop test strategies and test plans

-  Develop and document application test plans based on software requirements and technical specifications

  • Test

-  Develop testing processes

-  Evaluate and test software programs to verify their function according to user requirements

-  Operate and maintain test networks

  • Identify/ Resolve

-  Bugs and potential problems within the software

-  Detect software failures so that defects may be discovered and corrected

  • Report/ Document

-  Document test progress and results

-  Document anomalies and issues

-  Monitor, manage and communicate with Project Manager on defects

-  Record and document results and compare to expected results

-  Maintain database of software defects

-  Generate historical analysis of test results

-  Create meaningful error handling procedures for application code

  • Validate

-  Validate that software performs to established guidelines

-  Ensure data integrity standards

-  Ensure compliance with general programming best practices, accepted web standards and those standards set forth by upstream        sources

-  Perform application security audits

-  Perform reviews, walkthroughs, or inspections

-  Write, review, revise and verify quality standards and test procedures for program design and product evaluation

-  Examine code and execution of code in various environments

-  Verify specific action or function of code

  • Approve

-  Implement application designs, create queries, scripts, web pages and other deliverables

To be successful in this role…

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Design, Engineering or related technical field relevant to the essential functions of this job description 
  • Possess understanding of software QA methodologies, processes, and tools.
  • Highly knowledgeable in SQL and scripting as well as experience in software development and software quality assurance. 
  • You have kept up to date with current industry trends and latest advancements. 
  • Proficiency in math and science, engineering and technology, verbal and written communication, reasoning and logic, and team building and collaboration.
  • You possess exceptional time management skills.
  • Proven experience in test and/or test automation with one or more test automation frameworks 
  • Excellent knowledge of unit testing and testing frameworks 
  • Working knowledge of database management.

-  Programming language: React, TypeScript, Python

Work environment & physical demands…

  • This position is remote friendly and a company laptop will be provided. This is a full-time position averaging 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
