Description

Purpose: To support Meow Wolf Inc., Events segment in the interpretation, preparation, and maintenance of financial records.

Location: WFH/ Remote friendly.

The Events Accountant will be a key member of Meow Wolf, Inc. Events segment and will assist in all general accounting duties, including balance sheet reconciliations, monthly journal entries, and preparation of internal and external financial reporting. This role will support the Events teams in Santa Fe, NM, Denver, CO and all future Meow Wolf events spaces and will regularly interact with external partners/ promoters as well as internal Operations and Events staff to report on the profitability of the segment. 


As the Events Accountant, you will be responsible for all aspects of event settlements for Meow Wolf, Inc. Events. This includes, but is not limited to, settlements with promoters, private event coordinators, and Meow Wolf guests at the time of the events. Additional financial considerations will be pre- and post-event cash collections and invoicing follow through. 

Requirements

You will be instrumental in helping to maintain and expand the financial health of Meow Wolf Inc., Events.

How you will do it…

  • You will work closely with and collaborate with the Events Director to develop strategic planning/ budgeting/ forecasting.
  • You will provide daily support and utilize thorough knowledge of accounting for concerts, private events, and festival events. 
  • You will set up month end accounting procedures and Events financial reporting with Business Unit Accounting Manager and business operators.
  • You will safeguard all assets in compliance with internal controls and procedures
  • You must be willing to learn ticketing and financial systems to accurately reconcile sales activity and funds transfer along with track and report on various event metrics.
  • You will manage Events performance review and analysis.
  • You will publish monthly Event financials.
  • You will manage Event promotion agreements.
  • You will coordinate all required tax payments.

To be successful in this role…

  • You bring a minimum of 2 to 3 years progressive accounting experience in a related industry.
  • You possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field experience.
  • You will perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up.
  • Work cohesively with team members as part of Events team. 
  • You are a self-starter requiring minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality of company information and pertinent data.
  • You are able to take on multiple assigned tasks and are flexible to the exciting nature of a growing company.  
  • You possess strong knowledge of accounting, reconciling, general ledger, financial statements, journal entries and month end closing.

  • Dynamics Business Central 365, and Expensify.
  • Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Square POS and ticketing software.

Work environment & physical demands…

  • This is a full-time position, averaging 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
  • This position is WFH/ Remote friendly and a company laptop will be provided.
  • Must be readily available for last minute Zoom meetings, comfortable with screen share presentations, as well as communicating via Slack, email, and phone.    
  • Travel is required for this position.
