The Respiratory Care apprentice is responsible for obtaining on-the-job-training within the clinical respiratory and cardiopulmonary procedures for patients according to defined policies and procedures of the department and the hospital. The apprentice will work with internal department staff and be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the needs of the patient. Under the guidance of staff, administers all types of routine and special respiratory therapy including medical gasses, drugs, and life-support equipment. The apprentice will be a part of consulting physicians concerning the effects of treatment modalities and equipment. S/he will perform additional procedures including but not limited to cardiac stress testing, ECG's, Holter monitoring, and pulmonary function testing.
- Enrolled into an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or license in practical nursing

- Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification
- Enrollment into Department of Labor and Regulation and HRMC’s apprenticeship agreement
