Commercial Lending Officer

Responsible for developing new business by calling on present and prospective business customers focusing on new loan deposits and cash management business primarily related to commercial business and commercial real estate owners. Work as part of part of the Bank's sales team to cross-sale other lines of business to meet customer’s needs.

  • Perform a variety of duties to develop new business including, but not limited to, relationship building, outside calling efforts, generating goodwill, etc.
  • Drive the bank's sales and business development programs. Initiate partnerships with other lines of business, such as cash management, merchant services retail, leasing and mortgage.
  • Maintain portfolio credit quality by managing individual book of business and team portfolio to bank expectations. This includes oversight of past due accounts, exceptions and overall credit quality. Take a proactive approach in identifying and evaluating concerns related to emerging credit quality issues and reporting them to the Senior Commercial Lending Officer, Chief Lending Officer and Chief Credit Officer.
  • Maintain detailed records of meetings with clients or prospective customers. Monitor and manage internal reports relevant to individual and team portfolios, overdrafts, matured and maturing loans, and financial statement tracking.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of laws and regulations which impact the commercial and business banking job.
  • Maintains a strong compliance culture within assigned sphere of responsibilities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Demonstrated Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and/or banking experience.
  • Previous experience in positions related to business development and/or credit underwriting within the financial services industry preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficient interpersonal communication skills to include reading, writing and grammar;
  • Strong math skills, a knowledge of accounting principles and credit analysis
  • A thorough knowledge of lending regulations, procedures and operations
  • Strong interpersonal skills.  
  • Demonstrated attention to high quality customer service and details. 
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.
  • Proficiency with computers and ability to problem solve.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment with many critical deadlines.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to reach destinations within the Centric Bank footprint and as necessary to satisfy job requirements.
