Description

Mozamo is seeking a Civil Engineer in Vallejo, CA for ongoing transportation and infrastructure projects that require a civil engineering background. The level of the position will depend on the experience & qualifications of the candidate. The Civil Engineer is responsible for ensuring the materials and products used in construction projects comply with contract requirements with an emphasis on structural and roadway components produced at the source and shipped to the job site. Additional responsibilities include project administration; and ensuring that there is teamwork, efficiency, and clear communication with project team members so that the project runs smoothly.

Responsibilities:

Acts as a single point of contact between field personnel and clients.

Builds and maintains positive working relationships.

Manage quality assurance activities for large infrastructure projects including source inspection.

Exercised engineering judgement in providing quality assurance recommendations.

Ensures project documentation is retrievable and processed in a timely manner.

Prepares and reviews technical and inspection reports.

Manages and maintains pertinent contract documents and references specific to the project.

Ensures all contract work is in compliance with contract documents.

Performs risk assessment analyses of construction materials for use on large infrastructure projects.

Reviews and responds to submittals and RFIs.

Anticipates and resolves any issues associated with material source inspection and QA activities and help support effective materials management for construction projects.

Coordinates and communicates with the Resident Engineers, Structure Representatives, construction contractors, suppliers, and vendors on roadway and structural materials issues for construction projects.

Conducts meetings with appropriate project personnel to identify materials related issues and recommend solutions consistent with project plans and specifications.

Perform other duties as required

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

Effective written, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team, which includes staff, clients, and outside agencies.

Efficiently resolves issues and conflicts.

Strong organizational skills, including an ability to prioritize tasks and work with limited supervision.

Ability to make good decisions using professional judgment.

Ability to travel in state and out of state, roughly 2-3 days per month on average.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in civil or mechanical engineering required.

California Professional Engineer license required (or ability to obtain within 3 months from date of hire).

2 years of professional experience required.

Proficient using computer software programs in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations.

Valid California Driver’s License required
