Whole Kids Academy is a warm and vibrant Spanish immersion program with nearly a decade of experience serving local families. A feature of our program is Aventuras, an After School Enrichment and Summer Camp program for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Aventuras aims to support children’s learning of the Spanish language through hands-on activities and loads of fun, in a warm, safe and loving environment. 

We are in search of a Director to lead our Aventuras After School Enrichment and Summer Camp Programs to use their leadership expertise to mentor, support and strengthen our program and its many initiatives. The right candidate will be well qualified, experienced and knowledgeable about effective second language learning methods and strategies. Additionally, they will have a deep love for working with children, creating a strong sense of community within our program and be able to develop strong curriculum that aims to provide children with opportunities to grow their proficiency of the Spanish language while enjoying hands on and fun learning experiences. Individual must be an exceptional communicator, act with utmost integrity at all times, organized, proactive and able to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment.


The key functions of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing a warm, safe, and well-supervised environment with lots of care and attention provided to each child in our program. Our Director is responsible for setting the tone and developing a strong sense of community within our Aventuras program. 
  • Ensuring clear, consistent, and kind communication. The Director is responsible for communicating with parents and staff on a regular basis through various mediums – phone, email, newsletters, Brightwheel, and in-person meetings.
  • Able to fully develop and execute Spanish language lessons, aimed to increase children’s fluency and production of the Spanish language through a variety of interactive and hands on learning opportunities while able to evaluate children’s progress and production of the Spanish language and tailor instruction to support growth in oral comprehension, speaking reading and writing in a second language.
  • Creation and implementation of learning activities, fun experiences, field trips and special events tailored to the age, level and interest of the children within the areas of STEM, art, music, cooking and sports. 
  • Marketing and growing our campus through tours and strong marketing efforts on our website and social media that show all our program has to offer. Forming strong and trusting connections with perspective parents upon first meeting is a must. 
  • Meet with staff on a consistent basis to provide encouraging feedback, emphasizing strengths, setting goals and concrete examples of ways to improve.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Seeking candidate with a bachelor’s degree and additional coursework with MSDE including 45 Hour Child Growth and Development and 45 Hour Pre-Service Training for School Aged Children.  
  • At least two years’ experience in a school or childcare setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Additionally, candidate should have an advanced knowledge and experience working in Word, Excel, Google apps, and social media. An overall level of technological savviness is critical to successfully utilizing many of our online apps, programs and databases.
  • Native Spanish language is required.
  • Per MSDE licensing regulations, all applicants are required to successfully complete a state and federal background check as well as a medical clearance to safely perform all expected job duties.

Timeframe:

We are looking for our new Administrative Assistant to begin in August of 2022. Additionally, while we prefer a candidate that is looking for a long-term home with our school, we require a minimum commitment of 12 months.
