JOB TITLE:   Crisis Child Care Worker   FLSA STATUS: Hourly/Non-exempt 

   

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Responsible for providing quality and safe childcare, housekeeping, light cooking/baking, and referring families to needed/wanted resources, as applicable.


PRIMARY DUTIES:

Legend: E = Essential / NE = Non Essential / N/A = Not Applicable

1. Provide program services for participants (welcome and orientation, implement behavior management program, lead and plan group activities, assist with admission and discharge procedures, answer phones, provide information and referrals, etc.). E

2. Provide child care services for the children’s care (plan menus, prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, diaper, bathe and ensure proper routine hygiene, assess and respond to any signs of injury, illness, or communicable diseases, administer and document medications to children, etc.). E

3. Provide special care and monitoring to children with special physical and emotional needs.

4. Provide and maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment, both indoors and outdoors, that is orderly, clean, appealing, and prevents accidents and injury. Respond to fire/emergency drills and actual situations. E

5. Complete and/or prepare required items by due dates (pre-intake forms, progress notes, program forms, etc.). E

6. Follow legal, organizational and contractual requirements, laws and policies. E

7. Attend meetings and professional development activities, as requested (required to complete a minimum 15 hours of in-service training each year and be First Aid/CPR certifiable every two (2) years). E

8. Establish and maintain good communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all stakeholders (ex: parents, children, staff, community, etc.). E

9. Follow all duties of a mandated reporter. E

10. Perform other related duties, as assigned. E

11. Be a team player. E

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

Regularly required to stand, sit, reach, stoop, bend, and walk. Frequent lifting may be encountered. Must be able to lift children up to 40 pounds in weight.  Must pass TB testing and physical. 


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is generally performed in a child care/home environment. 


REPORTS TO: Director of Crisis Nursery and Respite Center


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

1. Minimum of 18 years of age.

2. Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

3. Minimum of one (1) year of experience (paid or unpaid) working with children. 

4. Introduction to the Child Care Profession (ECI) or obtain ECI within six (6) months from date of hire.

5. Bilingual (Spanish and English) strongly preferred.

6. Able to work  with diverse groups and individuals.

7. Excellent critical thinking, organizational skills, and able to manage multiple priorities.

8. Excellent communication, verbal and written, interpersonal skills, and ability to work with others.

9. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.

10. Must pass criminal history background checks.

11. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on program needs.

Salary Description
$14.50 up to $16.00 per Hour
