Sample Duties

Welder 

· Performs all welding under the direct supervision of a Certified Welder if not certified

· Conforms to AWS Certified D1.1-10 structural welding code – steel.

· Preps the area to ensure the area is clean and free of foreign matter before the welding process starts.

· Ensures proper safety equipment is worn.

· Sets the regulator on the bottle, the voltage for the gun and the speed for the wire as directed by the Certified Welder

· Performs MIG/Stick welding per specifications.

· Reviews welding procedure for number of welds and size.

· Reviews welding procedure preheating and type of rod for application.

· Perform daily servicing, cleaning and repairs of machines when required.

Fabricator

· Assemble/disassemble parts as directed.

· Inspect components to ensure each part is within specifications.

· Use hand tools and specialize equipment to perform duties.

· Uses micrometers, assorted hand tools, assorted air tool and power tools.

· Follow proper safety precautions as listed in the ARPX safety manual.

· Ensures proper safety equipment is worn.

· Records necessary information on traveler sheets as required.

· Will be trained and certified as forklift operator.

· Will load and offload trucks.

· Will perform daily cleanup of shop and will be especially responsible for the cleanliness of their own work area.

· Must be able to lift 70 lbs

· Communicate with Management/Office Assistant/Purchasing Manager accordingly

· Must be reliable and self-motivated.  

· Attention to detail, accuracy and speed, good work ethic and enthusiasm to learn all aspects of locomotive repair, ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work in a changeable temperature environment.
