Job Summary – The DSP provides direct support, instruction and assistance to persons living in the community. This includes health and safety, community inclusion, and daily living skills assistance.
Key Result Areas/Accountabilities
Direct Services
A. Ensure the safety and welfare of the individuals served. Train in areas of health, safety basic first aid, and accessing emergency assistance.
B. Assist and directly support individuals in activities of daily living such as meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, money management, social skills, hygiene, and grooming.
C. If the individual is not able to complete housekeeping or meal preparation tasks the DSP is responsible for the completion of these tasks.
D. Accompanies the individual into the community, leading to a more inclusive lifestlye.
E. Assist in areas of health maintenance of individual and implement behavior management techniques, plans and approaches when needed.
F. Provide transportation for individuals to and from work and other community activities or appointments when needed.
Case Management
A. Serve as a member of the individual’s support team. Attend consumer meetings when appropriate
B. Offer input into the development of the Individual Support Plan.
C. Attend staff meetings when scheduled. Keep in regular contact with Manager regarding consumer needs.
Reporting and Record Keeping
A. Completes and submits all required documentation in a timely manner.
B. Documents provision of services accurately and timely.
C. Attends in-services, conferences and other training as assigned.
D. Use time keeping system to document time worked during shift. Report any errors with time keeping system to supervisor according to procedure.
Other Duties
A. Promote agency wide Safety and Housekeeping as well as take a proactive approach to preventive maintenance and delivery of quality service.
B. Perform specialized duties based on the primary area of programming, while maintaining flexibility and a working knowledge of other technical specializations.
Starting pay: $13.00/hr.
Minimum Job Qualifications (ALL DEPARTMENTS)
Experience working in a service related field also preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license, adequate automobile insurance, and meet agency insurability requirements.
Must have good basic mathematical computation and English Language writing knowledge. As required by specific job requirements, must know first aid/health/safety measures, or build an acceptable competence level by post-hire training.Working knowledge of basic computer operations (i.e. typing, checking email) is preferred.

Must be able to bend, stoop, or stand for long periods of time, and assist in lifting various weights, including the transfer and movement of clients,
