Description

The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Plant Engineer to oversee operations of the plant to ensure it meets safety, operational, and financial goals for the business. The primary focus is project execution for safety, productivity, and costs related to operations of the Regenyx manufacturing facility.  It requires a hands-on, knowledgeable, highly responsive team player who is a self-starter, coachable, resourceful, brings creativity and strong interpersonal skills to the organization.

 

Critical Conditions for Success

  1. A basic understanding of process design
  2. Interface daily with the Plant Operations team to identify/resolve problems
  3. Implement solutions including diagnosing abnormal operating conditions, troubleshooting, and resolving process issues per Management of Change process
  4. Perform root cause analysis with Engineering, Operations, and EHS teams
  5. Identify areas of improvement for performance of the system, or reduction in required maintenance and drive implementation of solutions
  6. Assist in planning, scheduling, implementation, and commissioning plant improvements
  7. Assist in troubleshooting/tuning/improving plant reliability including root cause analysis
  8. Identify areas of cost savings for the plant
  9. Monitor plant operating costs and cost projections; identify and act to control, avoid and reduce costs as appropriate
  10. Ability to become subject matter expert in Process Safety Management (PSM) and drive safety related projects to completion
  11. Assist Plant Engineer by reviewing construction bid packages and contracts

Qualifications


Experience/Knowledge

  • 3-5 years experience in chemical/manufacturing facility preferred (recent college graduates will be considered)
  • Excellent judgment regarding health, safety, environmental and fire protection risks with emphasis on injury prevention and business continuity
  • Experience in a Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facility is preferred
  • Skilled in root cause analysis
  • Experience managing plant improvement projects from the design phase through implementation and commissioning
  • Exposure to developing conceptual designs in conjunction with Engineering
  • Experience evaluating pumps, control valves, and instrumentation
  • Experience Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Management of Change (MOC) is preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Understanding of organic chemistry preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook


Education/Training


Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical preferred)

Position Mechanics


Reports to: Plant Engineer


Type: Salaried; full time with benefits


Work Hours: Generally, 8:00am – 5:00pm; this is a multi-shift, 24/7 operation, so there will be evening and weekend work


Staff: None at time of hire


Location: Tigard, OR


Work environment: professional office and manufacturing


Travel: not required


Physical Demands: Varied between work performed in an office environment to that of equipment operators
