PV Solar Designer 

The PV Designer takes initial system concept ideas and turns them into fully detailed construction ready designs. Working on residential, commercial, and utility scale solar projects, the PV Designer will have overall responsibility for PV layout, configuration, mechanical and electrical construction drawings and will coordinate with AHJs, other trades contractors and customers. The PV Designer balances the necessity of a customer solution with the efficiency of standard practices and construction efficiency.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Creating and altering construction      sketches
  • Lead engineering for projects in our      pipeline –residential, commercial, and utility scale
  • Verify initial system layout and      gear locations for BOS
  • Complete system designs for PV      projects including site plans, mechanical racking and attachment plans,      single-line & 3-line electrical drawings
  • Design and specify BOS components      and locations, including meters, CGD's, etc. and their labeling
  • Interface with procurement and      Construction Management to create detailed bill of materials for the      projects
  • Understand the optimal design      applications and design limitations of specified products
  • Strong verbal / written      communication skills

Requirements

 

Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously

· At least 3 years of design or engineering experience related to renewable energy

· Competence in AutoCAD is mandatory

· Well versed in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

· Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, NEC requirements, construction practices

· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial

· Additional experience with estimating or designing electrical systems is preferred

· Competence in PVSyst and Aurora is preferred

· BS degree in EE or related discipline preferred
