We are hiring a Plant Manager for our brewery who enjoys a fun, fast paced environment in a growing beverage manufacturing environment.

This position provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure operating efficiency while maintaining safety, quality, efficiency, and the highest level of internal and external customer service. The Plant Manager is responsible for managing total plant operations and delivering superior customer satisfaction by driving results and exceeding expectations in the key areas of budgeting, compliance, safety programs, and people management. 

The Plant Manager acts as a liaison between all the teams involved in production in order to meet and push production goals of the plant. They develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity. Support continuous improvement in all areas of the plant, grow future leadership and actively continue to grow and support the unique culture of Humm Kombucha by exemplifying core values, and encouraging personal and professional growth. 


Plant Operations

  • Planning, organizing, directing, running, and troubleshooting day-to-day operations
  • Drive continuous improvement and optimization of all current and new processes
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
  • Collect and analyze data to find savings in time, labor and expenses 
  • Oversee and control operational costs and expenses in Packaging, Fermentation, Warehouse, and Maintenance
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of department's SOP’S, process development and protocols
  • Work with Production Planner to schedule plant operations
  • Operate in place of Department supervisors for any planned or unplanned absence from the plant or position
  • Follow and enforce all food safety policies. Manage the plant to pass all 3rd party audits and/or inspections
  • Responsible for the performance and overall development of the day-to-day plant operations
  • Understand SQF, responsibility for Food Safety/Food Quality and the responsibility to take action when notified or become aware of any issues
  • Accompany and work directly with regulatory agencies required for necessary food plant licensing and approvals with the assistance of the QA Manager

Business Partnership & Leadership

  • Manage and run all Operational meetings 
  • Maintain an open line of communication with directors, managers, supervisors, staff and other departments
  • Lead and develop the team, sharing a trusting relationship 
  • Manage operations personnel to achieve employee and department goals
  • Act as a trusted business partner and create an environment to both challenge and support your team with sound guidance and strategic insights
  • Support ongoing training and education of supervisors and staff by addressing training needs and assisting in locating beneficial educational opportunities 
  • Follow work policies and procedures, enforce policies consistently, and perform disciplinary action, when necessary, complete employee evaluations, and proper termination (voluntary and otherwise) procedures/paperwork
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities in the company and community prompted through the employee handbook guidelines, Core Values and mission statement
  • Follow all Humm policies, safety rules, standard operating procedures, and good manufacturing practices
  • Participate on Safety committee 
  • Assist in all other duties assigned by supervisor and/or management
  • Proven experience working in plant operations required
  • Experience and comfortability with ERP, preferably Obeer
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements for operating plants
  • Strong aptitude for root cause analysis and troubleshooting operational issues
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and computer technology
  • Familiar with operating plant equipment safely and efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, including experience in Project management 
  • Able to sit, stand and walk around for long periods at a time
  • 3+ years of Supervisory experience of a team of 5 of more, preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience with beverage, food products preferred
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team 
  • Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and react well under pressure at various hours of the day
  • Willingness to learn
