Medical Practice Assistant

Practice Assistant is responsible for delivering high-quality front desk operations and patient services related to the reception, registration, scheduling, and check out of all patients, while supporting the overall practice operation. 


  • Manage the flow of patients arriving and leaving the practice 
  • Provide cordial and respectful service to all patients to perform clinic patient scheduling, registration and check out or verifies the arrival of all patients and initiates the patient visit process
  • Obtains all patient demographic information on new patients 
  • Obtains all patient insurance information on new patients, verifies coverage, and photo copies all ID cards and special forms
  • Identify and collect co-pay payments due at time of arrival 
  • Handle incoming and outbound calls and route appropriately
  • book all appointments either from telephone calls or after patient visit for follow-up
  • Support referral process and follow-up with other providers or services for patients
  • Handle patient inquiries and complaints 
  • Execute and support practice office operations processes
  • Execute office policies and procedures 
  • Implement procedural and policy changes to improve operational efficiency o assist in monitoring and maintain office inventory
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment 
  • Respects at all times confidentially of patient information including fellow employees 
  • Billing support, collect insurance and billing information from patients and caregivers o research insurance eligibility 
  • General practice support of cross-train to support select medical assistant duties
  • Participate in problem solving and process improvement efforts
  • Maintains good working relationships with office and medical staff o performs other duties and participate in projects as required
  • Other duties as assigned 

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Certificate Medical Admin Assistant Cert preferred
  • 1-3 years related work experience required
  • 1-3 years’ experience in healthcare or hospitality preferred 
  • Experience with computer systems required, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
