Middle School Basketball Coach

Rooted School Indy @ Eastern Star is accepting applications for Middle School Basketball Coach.. The Middle School Basketball Coach will report to the Athletic Director, Assistant School Leader, and the Executive Director. 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES: 

  • Thorough knowledge of the sport and its strategies and techniques
  • Ability to motivate, teach and recruit qualified student-athletes
  • Ability to effectively implement school policy & maintain athletic department standards
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Some youth coaching experience preferred.
Requirements

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Lead or assist in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competitions three to five (3-5) afternoons / evenings per week
  • Assist in recruiting potential student-athletes
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and general assistance according to the needs of the student-athlete
  • Assist in promoting and maintaining student-athlete academic success – including supervision of team study sessions
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of team fundraising strategies
  • Assist with some team transportation responsibilities, as needed
  • Additional standard coaching and team leadership responsibilities, as needed
  • NOTE: All Middle School Head Coaches will provide some Assistant Coach support to High School counterparts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to drive.
  • Frequently lift and carry as much as 50(+) pounds.
  • Regularly perform physical activities common to the sport.
  • Ability to see, communicate (loudly), utilize equipment common to the sport 
  • Additional standard coaching-related physical activities
