Poseida’s Immuno-Oncology team is seeking an outstanding candidate who wants to lead innovative research and to be a part of a collaborative, tight-knit, and exciting team. In this position, you will play a critical role in the identification, evaluation and implementation of novel allogeneic gene editing and non-viral CAR-T technologies and will support both preclinical and IND-enabling activities for Poseida’s CAR-T cell pipeline. You will have a direct impact by developing, optimizing and validating allogeneic CAR-T platform technologies from platform discovery research through IND-enabling studies. 


Position Summary

Poseida is seeking an outstanding candidate to join our Research & Development (R&D) team. The Director will work cross-functionally to coordinate evaluation of new allogeneic CAR-T platform technologies including T-cell-directed gene editing and non-viral transposition platform technology. The Director will also lead discovery, validation, and advancement of cutting-edge genotoxicity assays critical to both IND-enabling studies and new technology characterization/vetting..

Collaborations and partnerships will be with Gene Engineering, other Immuno-Oncology leaders and scientists, Process Development, MSAT, Regulatory, and other Departments. Responsibilities will include supporting IND-enabling studies and filings, raw materials management and procurement, as well as supervision of biological validation and transfer of new platform technologies. He/she must have a strong scientific background and familiarity with Poseida programs and technologies. The effective candidate will be an excellent communicator, facilitator, organizer. They will be driven to work independently, utilizing his/her scientific training to bridge many functions and support organizational teamwork.


Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Lead efforts to assess novel or alternative technologies to improve product function, persistence, safety and development.
  • Lead preclinical research-level and IND-enabling genotoxicity and other studies.
  • Manage team of highly skilled Scientists and Research Associates.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to get stakeholder input and submit proposals for internal or external evaluation of novel technologies (with budget, timeline, go/no-go decision points).
  • Coordinate strategic application of novel platform technologies across the Poseida pipeline
  • Create clear and organized scientific due diligence reports and presentation materials for distribution and presentation to management and external parties.
Requirements

Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ph.D. in a scientific discipline (e.g., Immunology, Molecular Biology, Molecular Biotechnology or related scientific field) with 12 years of relevant experience, including 4+ years people management experience (managing a team of Scientists and Research Associates). An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Strong working knowledge and comprehension of immunology, molecular biology, gene editing, NGS analyses, gene therapy platforms.
  • Knowledge of CAR-T cell drug discovery and development process with the ability to see creative solutions to scientific challenges. 
  • Exemplary communication, organization, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and produce results in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced team environment.

  

Salary Range: $190,000 to $220,000

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience with the industry, education, geographic location, etc.
