With 17 beds, Elko CHC provides a range of specialty care, including general surgery, cardiology, orthopedics, podiatry, ENT and spinal surgery in a gorgeous frontier setting, and we are excited to hire a stellar team to deliver our patients the best quality of care.

Role Description: 

As a first point of contact for our patients, the Surgery Scheduler has a critical impact on positive patient experience. You will be responsible for duties involving scheduling for hospital outpatient-based services, changing and cancelling appointments, day-to-day operations of the facility telephone, greeting patients and assisting with necessary admitting paperwork, and other administrative duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

· Schedules all procedures to be performed in facility including preoperative appointments, according to nursing and anesthesia staff availability, patient needs, and physician’s block time. 

· Follows scheduling form to obtain all necessary patient demographic, health, and insurance information from physician’s office. 

· Follows procedure for notification of changes in the schedule (e.g., cancellation, rescheduling).

· Enters and maintains patient demographic and insurance information on computer.

· Maintains documentation for all medical staff members to ensure appropriateness of scheduled procedures and provide notification in advance of licensure/certification lapses.

· Oversees preoperative and surgical schedule from coordination to final distribution.

· Maintains privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.

· Serves as telephone operator for facility, responsible for correct routing of incoming calls, taking accurate messages when unable to connect to requested party.

· Performs reception duties as necessary, including greeting patients, printing, and providing necessary paperwork.

· Performs office/clerical duties as needed. 

Physical Requirements:

· All applicants must be physically able to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience billing/coding experience in a medical office. 

· Previous experience in a healthcare setting. 

· Experience with multi-line phone system.

Salary Description
Starting at $17 per hour; dependent on experience
