DEPARTMENT: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH /MEDICAL
JOB TITLE: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CLINICIAN (LCSW)
REPORT TO: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CLINICAL PROGRAM MANAGER/ MEDICAL DIRECTOR
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Conducts clinical interviews to gather information, assess patient needs, determine the appropriate need, and develop diagnostic information.
- Provide short-term, structured, evidence-based psychotherapy and counseling as part of the patient’s treatment plan.
- Provide clinical therapeutic services to patients, including individual and group therapy and coordination of treatment for participants with co-occurring disorders.
4. Provide crisis intervention as needed.
5. Coordinate and collaborate with Primary Care Providers, Behavioral Health Coordinator, Director of Behavioral Health Services and other staff to improve health outcomes.
6. Facilitate referrals to other services as needed.
- Work closely with Innercare Psychiatrists, when needed.
8. Meet patient needs effectively and resolve individual barriers through follow-up, advocacy, and collaboration with other staff and community service providers.
- Serves as the mandated Child Protective Services (CPS) and Adult/Elder Abuse reporter.
10. Maintain accurate and timely records of activities, case management notes, and services provided to each patient.
- Completes paperwork to support billing in a timely manner.
- Attends and participates in a variety of internal and external meetings.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
CONTACTS: Supervisor, co-workers, other Innercare personnel, and the general public.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 85% sitting, 10% walking, and 5% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; seeing to view a computer monitor; lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy computer equipment; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience in an ambulatory care agency providing direct mental health related services to clients, which should include identifying patient mental health needs, using community resources, and advocacy.
- Possession of a Master’s or Doctorate degree in a field of study approved by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology.
- Licensed by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences or the California Board of Psychology as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Marriage Family Therapist.
Desired Qualifications:
· Bi-lingual English/ Spanish desired
· Knowledge of providing culturally competent services to a variety of diverse patients
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: California Laws and regulations for mental health services; non-violent crisis intervention techniques; Evidenced-based practices and philosophy; data collection and record-keeping techniques. Excellent communication skills, good organizational and interpersonal skills and highly motivated. Reading and writing ability in English sufficient for filling out forms, reports, etc. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
