The Blokable Building System is a precise, high-performance volumetric assembly that ships from our factory as a 95% complete living unit, requiring a minimum of site work to install and finish. We use structural and non-structural steel for multi-story structure, non-combustible walls, floors, and ceilings, and have an internally engineered hardware and software platform that allows owners to monitor building safety, security, and performance in real time. Our office is located in Sacramento. We're continually improving as we move from construction to manufacturing, adding manufacturing processes and specifications and preparing to expand our manufacturing capacity.

Position Purpose and Overview

The Senior Accountant will manage the month-end close process and day-to-day transaction entries. As a key point of contact for purchases and purchase orders, billing, expense reimbursements, and general ledger coding questions, the Senior Accountant must focus on providing exceptional customer service and communicating requirements and needs across the agency. The Senior Accountant assures that transactions run smoothly so that all team members can focus their time on the tasks that move the company toward its goals. 

Areas of Strategic Focus:

  • Manage month-end close process, including account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts, managing tasks on the month-end close checklist, performing fluctuation analysis on income statement accounts, and verifying coding requirements are met for all transactions
  • Prepare consolidated and individual company monthly and quarterly financial reports, including providing explanations for changes in account balances, comparing actual results to budget/forecast, and explaining key variances between actual and expected outcomes
  • Prepare other monthly and ad-hoc reports as requested to meet the needs of the executive team, investors, lenders, and other stakeholders as needed
  • Perform daily tasks in the ERP system related to purchase orders, items, accounts payable, journal entries, expense reimbursement reports, inventory, credit cards, and other transactions to record day-to-day activities, updating books and records daily 
  • Process semi-monthly payroll, including updating team member records for deductions and taxes and preparing all necessary reports for review

Specific functions and responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with external accounting consultants with the ability to respond to questions that arise during reviews and audits and other due diligence procedures that may arise
  • Manage additional reporting needs for separate subsidiaries, keeping records consistent across various entities and assuring that transactions are recorded in the correct entity
  • Assist with annual tax preparation for limited liability company, including draft and final K-1 reports, and relevant investor reporting, including contacting investors and responding to questions about financial information included in K-1s 
  • Assist in hiring and training additional accounting staff to provide additional support and supervision for day-to-day transactions
  • Support in developing formalized business processes and procedures for the accounting department 
  • Using the current ERP system, document processes and procedures for recording transactions to train new team members in the company 

Skills / Competencies: 

  • Ability to quickly change course and react positively to changes in tasks, work environment, and goals while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to finish work accurately and on deadline 
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing both formal memos and informal emails
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with all aspects of team members and company information

Experience and Education: 

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance-related roles preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel
  • Experience working with ERP or advanced accounting systems
  • Experience working with planning/budgeting systems
