Job Summary

The R&D Assistant is responsible for building cabinets and cabinet accessory prototypes, researching new machining methods and assembly processes. Must have cabinetry experience to apply. 


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Builds cabinets and cabinet accessory prototypes.
  2. Tests materials, hardware and new products.
  3. Uses a variety of wood working equipment including, saws, router, shapers, presses, milling machines, etc.
  4. Researches new machining methods and assembly processes.
  5. Develops concepts for building jigs including jig construction.
  6. Analyzes manufacturing operations for designing jigs and fixtures not requiring formal engineering.
  7. Conducts training for new products and procedures to employees.
  8. Consults with R&D Technicians and/or production personnel about machining, material and assembly problems.
  9. Participates and contributes to a Work Team environment and follows Quality Control checks.

This position works with production Monday - Friday 6am - 4:30pm

Requirements

Required Education, Training or Experience

  • High School education or up to one month related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years vocational education specializing in cabinetry and machine processes is preferred but not required.
  • Must be self sufficient and able to take direct initiate in projects. 
  • 5 years cabinetry experience involving layout, construction, and installation.
  • Advanced work experience with wood materials, tooling, and wood working equipment.
