Research & Development Intern- Spring 2023 or Summer 2023


  • Work with the Mirum Research and Development team to:
  • Explore new reaction conditions to produce NFW’s prepolymer curative.
  • Developing changes to known reaction conditions to fully optimize the production of the prepolymer curative.
  • Work with a team to characterize and interpret the results of the reactions
  • To perform chemical characterization of reaction products with techniques such as, size exclusion/gel permeation chromatography (SEC/GPC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).
  • Run and troubleshoot circular knitting machines
  • Set-up trials using NFW’s Welded Cotton as a input yarn
  • Conduct lab testing on the knitted fabrics
  • Design experiments to optimize fabric performance


Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Required, pursuing a degree in Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Has taken or is currently enrolled in Organic Chemistry.
  • Has laboratory experience, which includes experience gained from course work.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Works well with others

Competency Requirements

  • Proficiency in Excel spreadsheets. Ability to maintain up to date Excel spreadsheets on lab analyses.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional recordkeeping and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a small team of employees with a diverse skill set.
