This individual is responsible to supervise all production activities in the Boarding/Dyeing or Knitting Department to optimize employee, capital equipment and departmental efficiency in order to meet and/or exceed company goals and objectives.
Allocates appropriate resources, both people and equipment, to sustain production throughput and quality to meet and/or exceed production demands.
Ensures production operates under minimal distraction with an increased level of preparedness.
Plans, organizes and manages the effective utilization of people, materials and equipment in the department to meet production/departmental schedules and goals to ensure quality, quantity and launch dates are attained.
Monitors employees to ensure each job is performed correctly and efficiently.
Maintains machines operating efficiently by addressing machine stops.
Supports the SIGVARIS quality system and quality policy by following work instructions, procedures and the accurate fulfillment of required forms to meet all internal and external requirements.
Supports and enforces all company policies, procedures and safety guidelines.
Assists with the training or re-training of employees to standardize, make more efficient and to meet ISO requirements for the employees’ job.
Ensures OSHA and all safety compliance.
Works toward meeting the production and quality goals as set by management.
Actively supports 6S and Lean/Kaizen initiatives or events in the Production departments.
Assists in miscellaneous duties such as staging work, performing preventative maintenance, creating labels, and any other jobs that will help facilitate a smooth flow of product.
Continually measures and tests procedures, identifies new metrics for evaluating efficiency to ensure continuous improvement.
Performs miscellaneous tasks and jobs as directed by the Manufacturing Manager.
Utilizes shift reports to address employee efficiency, machine downtime and the pro-active approach of addressing them.
Analyzes Daily/Weekly production reports, capacity, late jobs, B/O, order fulfillment and scrap.
Recommends methods for improving workers efficiency, reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocation work communication, good relations and a positive service-oriented image with co-workers promoting courtesy, objectivity, and fairness.
Supports physical inventory counts - Year End & Cycle Counts as instructed in accordance with set procedures and planning schedules.
Assists in the investigation of any discrepancy to the loss of labor and/or materials.
Ensures a safe work environment for employees.
Promotes teamwork between individuals in all manufacturing areas.
Works with Production Planning to ensure timely fulfillment areas.
Maintains a proper level of work in progress (WIP) and raw materials.
Responsible for the overall supervision, training and development, motivation, coordination and evaluation of assigned employees.
Fosters positive morale among staff, by promotion of open communication with all departments, to help create and maintain an innovative and cooperative staff relationship and environment;
Follows established company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with SIGVARIS policies, industry standards, ISO 13485 standards, and Federal, State and local laws.
Follows all work instructions, creates and maintains accurate records to meet all internal and external requirements to support the SIGVARIS Quality System and Quality Policy.
Accurately performs any other duties as assigned to ensure an efficient workflow.
2-year degree or Certificate in technical or management field or equivalent in education and experience.
5 years’ Supervision/Management in manufacturing departments, experience preferred.
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Principles.
This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role uses knitting machinery.
