As a Production Project Manager with Avalon Consulting Group, you’ll work closely with both internal and external partners to define and coordinate deliverables to maximize production capabilities and deliver error-free, on-time results. You’ll support our remarkable non-profit clients meet their fundraising goals by representing their interests and performing responsibilities:

  • Manage direct mail production process for 4-7 clients depending on the scope of work and project cadence production, vendor schedule needs, and new printing and personalization processes.
  • Execute quality control on mockups, printing proofs, data counts and dumps, personalization, and insertion setups.
  • Work with production partners to define cost-effective packages for all fundraising mailings.
  • Review campaign outlines and mailplans to ensure production elements are correct and consistent with over-arching program goals. 
  • Manage bidding process either directly or through our production partners and provides client with cost evaluation and recommendations.
  • Draft specs and package grids for client approval and submits final package grid to suppliers to complete a project.
  • Review all artwork, bluelines and live data and mailshop set ups and manages approval process with clients.
  • Manage acquisition merge/purge process.
  • Develop and manage individual campaign schedules.
  • Analyze print, data, and mailing for efficiency and reduce costs; negotiate lower prices through gang or program pricing, cost savings recommendations, and ongoing discussions with suppliers and internal departments.
  • Manage printers and mailshops, for each project, communicating specs, deadlines and price expectations.
  • Reconcile campaign bids to the campaign budget to ensure campaigns are within budget.
  • Assist with reprojections and budgets by confirming prior production expenses, assessing upcoming expenses, and suggestion changes to ensure overall program goals are met.

We are pleased to offer a remote-first work environment. While Avalon has a headquarters office in Washington, DC, any staff member is welcomed to work from the comfort and safety of their home office, with occasional travel required for client meetings, industry events/training, or company gatherings. 


What we need from you…

You will be a great fit for us if you possess at least three (3) years of direct mail production management experience. You should also possess a working knowledge of changing USPS rules and rates and how the supply chain impacts direct mail. You must be proficient using Microsoft Office programs including Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.  Prior experience using collaboration tools like, Teams, and Zoom are a plus.  Additionally, you must have a proven ability to organize and expertly manage multiple projects and deadlines.
