As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will make a positive difference for patients by assisting the clinical team to provide quality patient care.  


The Certified Nursing Assistant will participate as an integral part of the team approach for Exodus Healthcare Network to ensure a smoothly functioning office. The Certified Nursing Assistant will serve as a team member to Family Practice, GI, Podiatry, Surgery, Urgent Care, and other EHN Teams and other teams as needed. 


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team building approach to coordination of quality patient care, consistent with the mission of the Exodus Health Care Network
  • Prepares for patient appointments by reviewing and updating patient records prior to appointment. This includes checking for updates of recent test results, lab results and correspondence. Also reviews Athena to determine needed services and whether referrals are in process or have been completed since last visit.
  • Maintains exam rooms according to protocols: Cleans rooms between patient exams to ensure patients' comfort and compliance with infection control standards; ensures all necessary supplies are stocked.
  • Promptly reports when supplies are low and works with Medical Assistant Team Leaders to ensure timely reordering is completed. 
  • Appropriately prepares patient for visit and alerts provider when patient is ready to be seen. When provider is unavailable, the CNA keeps the patient updated on the status of their appointment and when necessary, assists the patient in re-scheduling or scheduling follow-up.  
  • Provides initial medical screening: Greets patients and directs to appropriate exam room. Takes weight, height, temp, blood pressure, and basic medical history; accurately documents in medical chart following and completing the patient care checklist. 
  • Assists Provider upon request during examination of patient and according to generally accepted medical standards. 
  • Practices universal precautions with respect to established safety protocols. Facilitates communication between the provider, medical assistant, and patient as needed, including translation as appropriate. 
  • Utilizes time in a constructive and efficient manner by assisting in such duties as rooming patients for other Providers, Medical Assistants, completing clinical inboxes, sterilizing instruments, addressing biohazard garbage, restocking rooms/shelves/trays, checking supplies, and ensuring that all areas, exam rooms and patient care restrooms are clean and orderly. 
  • Performs general clerical duties in support of patient services according to the needs of the clinic and as directed by Administrative team, Team Leader, and or provider(s). These include but are not limited to answering phones, photocopies, faxing, typing, completing forms, etc.
  • For safety and security reasons, the CNA is responsible for knowing the whereabouts of a patient any time the patient is in clinical areas.
  • Promptly answers/returns phone calls.
  • Maintains computerized patient medical records and proper documentation.
  • Participates in a designated clinic team and supports the total quality improvement philosophy of the clinic.
  • Completes continuing education, in-service training, technical updates, and other activities to assure continued competency.
  • Maintains warm, sensitive, and cooperative relationships with patients, patient’s families, co-workers, administration, medical staff, etc.
  • Treats all “customers” in a polite manner.
  • Demonstrates sincere concern and sensitivity to the needs of all “customer” at all times.
  • Regards personal information offered by others in private and confidential manner.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information
  • Responds to inquiries in an appropriate and polite manner.
  • Attends staff and medical meetings, as required.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned by the Administration, Team Leader, and Provider

High School Diploma

Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Utah
