The Production Supervisor oversees the overall operations or specific areas ensuring production goals, consistent quality standards and customer delivery requirements are all achieved. The Production supervisor will monitor team members and organize workflows. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products
  • Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining team members; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
  • Maintains staff by selecting and training team members; developing personal growth opportunities
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries
  • Maintains quality of product by establishing and enforcing organization standards
  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests
  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change
  • Engages in 5S ("Sort", "Set In order", "Shine", "Standardize" and "Sustain”) activities
  • Ensures timecard accuracy for all department team members through the company payroll system 
  • Navigates staffing shortages with the plant leadership team

Directly supervises department Teams. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Whisker policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training and hiring Teams, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing Team issues, and upholding safety and quality guidelines. 


 Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • 3+ years of experience managing people and teams
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to organize and evaluate programs, records, and documents
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and accurately record data
  • Ability to respond courteously and knowledgeably to the needs of all internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with numerous interactions and interruptions
  • High degree of initiative, self-motivation and ability to motivate others
  • Ability to develop and implement effective staff training procedures
  • Ability to hold others accountable to standards and expectations
  • Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information

Not Required But Nice To Have!:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
