You are in a lead role as an Experienced Diesel Mechanic at Big Rig Fixer. You are experienced, respected, and trusted by others. We entrust you to work independently while helping others perform repairs, diagnosis, and maintenance. You set an example for the shop and help where needed. This role will leverage your mechanical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and navigate maintenance and repairs. Responsibilities
- Inspect and run diagnostics on trucks, diesel engines, transmissions, and more to discover issues
- Troubleshoot client complaints and resolve them promptly
- Conduct repairs to ensure maximum reliability and performance during commercial operation
- Perform thorough maintenance and analysis on trucks, trailers, transport refrigeration, and various other heavy equipment systems
- Replace worn-out and broken parts
- Clean and lubricate moving parts
- Replenish fluids and consumables
- Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to clients, customers, and drivers
- Explain to clients the benefits of scheduling maintenance for their fleets
- Undertake other duties when necessary (e.g., grinding, welding, or cleaning)
- Keeping track of all issues on assigned tasks, including parts, labor, and time on our shop management software (Fullbay)
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules while carrying out tasks
- 4+ years of Diesel Mechanic related experience
- Possess a sound working knowledge of machinery repair, best shop practices, welding, electrical systems, and computer diagnostics
- Excellent knowledge of trucks, trailers, transport refrigeration (reefers), hydraulic, electrical, and other systems and their components
- Experience in using tools of the trade (e.g., welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Able to use good judgment
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Good physical strength and stamina
- Predictable Attendance
- Any certification(s), diploma(s), or completed apprenticeship(s) is highly preferred.
- A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is highly preferred.
