 This position will support NFW’s textile technology platform, called Clarus. Clarus® develops unique 100% natural yarn products that have outstanding sustainability profiles but deliver a high performing fabric and apparel experience to consumers. Clarus® holds the key to displacing polluting synthetic textiles with recycled and high-performing natural alternatives.


 NFW is seeking curious and detail-oriented individuals to join as an entry-level Yarn Development and Quality Associate. Ideal candidates are self-starters and creative problem solvers with skill sets and experience working with pre-manufacturing equipment and material/chemistry/hospital/pharmacy laboratories. 

This position will work within our Yarn Development team, which is responsible for translating Brand customer demands into Clarus prototypes and pre-commercial yarn products. A Yarn Development and Quality Associate’s role will cover supporting the running of NFW’s development equipment, creation of prototype yarns, and the laboratory characterization (QA/QC) of those yarns.

 NFW is seeking to hire multiple stellar candidates for this role, with at least one position for 2nd shift. a candidate for this position for first or second shift.

Key Responsibilities / What you will do:

  • Set up and operates industry standard test equipment within our QA/QC lab
  • Performs ASTM, AATCC, ISO and various other test standards and procedures
  • Compiles, analyzes, and reports statistical data
  • Manages and keep organized Inventory over multiple prototypes/development yarns to be tested
  • Develops new test methods and writes standard operating procedures, as assigned
  • Proactively flag problems, errors, and potential bugs in NFW’s equipment
  • Work safely and positively contributes to the safe working environment of the team around you
  • Make observations and notes on equipment performance, communicate these observations effectively to maintenance and engineering team members
  • Work effectively across multiple disciplines (chemistry, engineering, business professionals, etc.) and a diverse team
  • Work with production and other team members to schedule time on shared resources
  • Work safely with chemicals and equipment
  • Attend meetings, as necessary and gives project updates internally
  • Perform minor maintenance and custodial duties, such as the lab and test equipment


Requirements
  • Recent Bachelor’s degrees preferred (but not required) (BS Chemistry, BS Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS/MLT), BS Material Science, other relevant degrees) OR
  • Associate degree plus 6-12 months experience in relevant settings OR
  • 24 months of experience in relevant settings OR
  • 24 months of manufacturing or quality assurance/control experience 
  • Experience in a textile industry is a plus
  • Experience in Pharm-Tech, Hospital Laboratory Tech, or Quality Assurance positions is a plus
  • Experience working with computers and data analysis tools such as Minitab and Excel

Work Environment

  • Primarily operates in Laboratory and manufacturing environments
  • Some of the work is performed in a shop environment where it may be loud, dusty, hot or cold
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets
  • Required to use personal protective equipment
