Ascent Classical Academies is currently seeking school leaders who share a passion for our mission to grow the classical education movement and to play a key role in significant expansion throughout Colorado, the West and the Carolinas.


Join Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado as the Dean of Faculty to support the development of the moral character and civic virtue of students in their pursuit of the True, the Good, and Beautiful. The Dean of Faculty will support the Mission and Vision of Ascent Classical Academies and the ideals of classical, liberal arts education and its value in the development and formation of young people. As a leader in the school, the Dean of Faculty must have high moral character and embrace the virtues of a free and just society.


This administrator/assistant headmaster-level position will assist the Headmaster in overseeing and executing the academic and cultural mission of the school. As such, assigned tasks and projects will vary depending on campus needs and individual strengths and experience. The successful candidate will have experience in classical K-12 pedagogy and curriculum, coaching and mentoring teachers, and communicating the purpose of classical education to diverse audiences. The Dean of Faculty will also teach at least one class in a discipline of his or her strength.


Among other items, the Dean of Faculty closely collaborates with Headmaster in:

  • Managing and overseeing the K-12 Faculty
  • Monitoring classroom instruction
  • Ensuring fidelity to the academic program
  • Developing improvements to the academic program in alignment with the school’s Mission and Vision, and direction from the Headmaster, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, network partners, and Board of Directors
  • Tracking and reviewing lesson plan submissions
  • Supporting and developing Faculty Department Heads
  • Overseeing Internal and Mandated Assessments, tracking, reviewing, and utilizing the results.  
  • Mentoring teachers and teachers assistants of all experience levels
  • Developing, coordinating, and implementing professional development
  • Conducting teacher observations and evaluations with a focus on pedagogy and curriculum.
  • Assisting the Headmaster to ensure teaching talent acquisition and retention
  • Developing, coordinating, and implementing professional development
  • Assisting the Headmaster in operating the school

Desired Start Date: July 1, 2023


Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt, Year-round


Salary Range:  $65-85K, highly dependent on experience and qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Masters Preferred)
  • Ten or more years of K-12 teaching experience within formal or non-formal settings
  • Ability to mediate difficult situations
  • Experience with developing teachers
  • Experience with supporting teacher in students and parents relationships in a K-12 setting
  • Strong ability to speak and write clearly
  • Thorough understanding of classical pedagogy and philosophy
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues
  • Understanding of Ascent Classical Academy’s mission and vision and a commitment to the growth and expansion of Classical Education
