The Software Development Manager is essential to the life of the company, customers and product teams. In this role, the Software Development Manager will make sure the development team is able to work efficiently and effectively to ensure high quality software creation that not only meets a defined set of functionalities on time but in line with overall company objectives. The Software Development Manager will lead multiple teams of developers in the planning, organization, development, and testing activities to deliver software that is distributed to customers through the Release Management team. Additionally, these teams are responsible for the maintenance and lifecycle of the applications previously delivered.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Problem solving and the ability to react to abrupt changes of direction
  • Identify team members that can provide mentorship to the rest of the team
  • Key deliverables you will own and define:
  • On time release of high-quality software applications.
  • Project plan for delivering Roadmap commitments.
  • Team collaborations that are critical to this role:
  • Interface with Product Managers to understand and interpret requirements into actionable user stories.
  • Work with Lead Architects on development tasks related to the innovation of current architecture.
  • Engage with the Design team to gain clear insight into the user experience before development begins.
  • Consult with the Product Support team as needed for bug triage, ticket escalations and software release activities.
  • Remove developer and testing resource distractions to keep project progress moving forward and to maintain process control to keep things on track.
  • Incorporate software development and testing engineers into process for auto-test creation as well as overall general testing of feature and bug deliverables
  • Create and update work plans to direct development activities that match the development roadmap.
  • Ensure adherence to development methodology including ticket monitoring and ongoing training and developer oversight.
  • Report project status to various stakeholders and generate reports based on firm metrics to show meaningful progress.
Requirements
  • Technical degree (BS or MS) with MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years professional and relevant experience in managing development teams and delivering software focused on large enterprises and service providers throughout the entire life cycle.
  • Strong understanding of Agile development and methodology to build a product that is differentiated and delivers unique value based on customer demands.
  • Proficient in project management tools and software technologies.
