What You’ll Do:

The Electrical and Firmware Sustaining Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving automated pet care products through their entire life cycle. Responsibilities will cover electrical and firmware work and related product manufacturing activities. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

  • Reviews existing products and identifies, proposes, and implements possible improvements
  • Reviews product complaints and performs root cause failure analysis
  • Prototypes and tests electrical and firmware modifications
  • Supports manufacturing sites with needed software, programming tools, and test fixtures
  • Supports manufacturing process improvements and cost reduction activities
  • Collaborates with the Operations team on component sourcing and supplier/vendor issues
  • Collaborates with the Customer Experience team to identify possible product improvements
  • Communicates and collaborates with other cross functional team members 
  • Maintains/creates product related documentation, FMEA, state machine diagrams, etc.  
  • Will perform additional responsibilities when required
Requirements

What You’ll Bring:

  • BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of combined hand-on experience in firmware and electrical design
  • Experience in Altium or other PCB design tools
  • Experience in programming languages (i.e. C, Java, C#, python, typescript)
  • Experience in digital and analog electronics
  • Experience writing firmware for various MCUs
  • Experience in communication protocols, SPI, I2C, UART, etc.
  • Experience utilizing ADCs, DACs, and motor control
  • Knowledge utilizing standard lab equipment (DMM, oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • Experience in Git, Bitbucket, and JIRA
  • Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information
  • Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptions
  • High degree of initiative, self-motivation and ability to motivate others
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Team Members and colleagues
