Hours: Up to 40hrs/ week
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining, repairing and modifying all aspects of any of the association’s facilities and grounds. In addition, every position in the YMCA of East Tennessee is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the Y’s core values - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
1. Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
2. Performs regular preventive maintenance on equipment in accordance with operating procedures set by manufacture guidelines and Facilities Director.
3. Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. May perform pool cleaning/maintenance, painting, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal.
4. Follows all Y policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
5. Conducts daily inspections of Y facilities to check for safety concerns or discrepancies in the facilities and/or equipment.
6. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
There are no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
There are no education requirements. Six months or more of related experience preferred. Knowledge of basic maintenance of equipment. Basic understanding of upkeep and care of equipment. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use. Pool Operator Certification preferred.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. May be exposed to cleaning and chemical compounds, cleaners and solutions in dry, power, spray, and aerosol forms. Will work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequently required to talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, stoop, or crawl. Use of hands and fingers. Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties. Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of the organization.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, COURSES:
Current Citizens CPR; required for hire and must maintain certification.
Safety Training Courses; required to complete before start work, provided by the Y.
New Employee Orientation; required to attend before start work, provided by the Y.
Additional training, licenses, and courses may be required throughout employment.
