Seeking a program assistant to the Camps, Community, and Transition department. This role will support in implementation of transitional and camp programming and transportation of participants with varying cognitive and physical abilities. The primary role of this job will be to support and mentor the COACH interns. The COACH internship (Creating Opportunities for Achievement) is for individuals with any type of disability, between 16-22 years old focused on vocational, advocacy, independence & job skills through the National Ability Center programs and administrative programs. Additionally, every person working at the National Ability Center is expected to ensure that each member, guest, and visitor of the NAC receives the highest caliber of service.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities
· Responsible for driving campers to and from the NAC Ranch as needed. This includes operation of a 15-passenger vehicle with a lift system, communication with supervisor and staff, and timely pick up and drop off of campers in the Salt Lake City Area.
· Work and communicate effectively with parents/guardians, camp counselors, participants, interns, and program supervisor/manager daily.
· Role-model and teach skills in socialization, hygiene, self-advocacy, independence, and work place skills etc.
· Mentor and support COACH interns in program and administrative settings
· Support planning and facilitation of PCALL (Park City Adult Life Long Learning) group.
· Attend and engage in all required training(s)
· Work as a team to plan, organize, and implement adaptive recreation activities/transitional program activities that are appropriate to the environment and participants’ ages and abilities
· Provide instruction and assist participants in reaching success when participating in all aspects of the program while encouraging independence
· Assist with administrative and scheduling tasks as needed
· Run group and one on one meetings as needed
· Support camps as camp counselor as needed
· Support community outreach programs as needed
· Enforce and comply with the National Ability Center’s program policies and safety practices
· Problem solve unexpected changes
· Report all accidents, incidents, and disciplinary concerns to the program supervisor/manager
· Utilize behavior management techniques as needed
· Documentation and record keeping (progress notes, daily “report cards”, incident reports, behavior plans, etc.)
· Assist with overseeing proper use of facility, equipment, and supplies
· Assist with preparing/cleaning site, equipment, and vehicles for activity
· Participant fully as a team member of the National Ability Center
· Other duties as identified
Required Skills and Qualifications
· 21 years or older
· Valid Driver’s License
· Pass a drug test and Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) physical and gain approval for driving the National Ability Center’s fleet of accessible vehicles (15-passenger buses with wheelchair lift systems)
· Clean driving record
· Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities who range in age from 6 to 30 years old
· Demonstrate history of responsibility, dependability, and maturity
· Drive in variable and inclement environmental conditions
· Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite
· Commitment to a positive, fun, and team-oriented working environment

· Ability to be flexible, creative, and positive in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to give and receive feedback in a positive, constructive, and solution-oriented manner
· Current CPR and First Aid certifications or higher
· Current Food Handlers Permit for the State of Utah
· Available for full summer season including required pre-season training (May – August). Any exceptions may be made by the discretion of the Manager and must be agreed upon prior to start of employment
Preferred Skills
· Ability to instruct activities such as archery, cycling, water sports, and rock climbing
· Ability to lift adaptive equipment/up to 50 lbs
