Description

SUMMARY:

Mammography Technologists operate a mammography unit to produce images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under direction of a physician.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Explain the mammography procedure to patients
  2. Position and immobilize the patient’s breast in unit
  3. Observe the scanning process
  4. Monitors the video display of the area being scanned and adjusting the density or contrast to improve picture quality
  5. Review and evaluate the film or image recording plate to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes
  6. Use radiation safety measures and protection devices
  7. Comply with government regulations
  8. Ensure safety of patients and staff


Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  2. Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  3. Active R.T.(R)(M) certification or equivalent
  4. Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  5. 1-2 years Mammography experience preferred
