Sawmill Market, New Mexico’s only artisanal food hall, is pleased to announce the addition of “Little Madrid” to its diverse food and beverage options. Little Madrid occupies the entire southeast corner of the market, and pays homage to Spain’s distinctive and eclectic cuisine in the most beautifully appointed space. Little Madrid provides an authentic Spanish culinary experience for guests through Spanish favorites such as paella, tapas, basque cheesecake, wine, fresh charcuterie, and other provisions.
Full-time Hourly position ranging from $16.00-$21.00 DOE plus benefits.Located in Albuquerque, NM. Working out of our Sawmill Market


Position Purpose:  The Little Madrid Cook will send guests on their culinary journey by creating a memorable dining experience with their extensive knowledge of menus and execution of culinary skills. They will ensure that all food and drinks are prepared with high quality practice, and come out in a timely fashion. The cooks will  lend support to the Back of House team to create an overall unforgettable experience for guests.  



Essential Duties and Functions/Responsibilities/Tasks:

  •  Work under direction of Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
  • Communicate daily with Kitchen leadership regarding job assignments and required timeframe.
  • Maintain a high level of positive and professional approach with coworkers and guests.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards at all times.
  • Set up /breakdown and stock stations with all necessary supplies.
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces).
  • Cook menu items in collaboration with other kitchen team members.
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
  • Other duties as assigned consistent with the functions of this position as needed at the property.
Requirements
  • Current New Mexico Food Handler Certification required.
  • Ability to work on your feet in humid kitchen environment for eight hours or more.
  • Must be able to lift/push/reach for/carry 30+ pounds frequently.
  • Excellent verbal communication and ability to multitask.
  • 6 months to 1 year or equivalent combination of education and experience; high volume and/or fine dining cook experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience/training.
