Commercial Roofing Superintendent Role and Responsibilities

Work closely with Business Owners and General Contractors to perform the following:

  • Manage all field roofing personnel and oversee all roofing operations
  • Responsible and accountable for the Company profit as related to roofing job costs
  • Responsible for controlling cost related to roofing operations
  • Mobilization, Logistical Requirements, and Demobilization
  • Attend the Project Preconstruction Meeting to get familiar with the project.
  • Ensure that the site mobilization plan (including storage areas, delivery route, on-site material distribution, dumpster location, building height, hoisting plan, vacuum, interior protection, and roof access) is being followed by field personnel.
  • Walk grounds and provide reports of existing conditions including but not limited to paving, pavement striping, landscaping, signage, lighting, electric transformers, traffic barricades, wheel stops, bollards, building conditions, exterior finish conditions, dumpster enclosures, fencing, storage area.
  • At the completion of the project, inspect the jobsite during demobilization to ensure the job is logistically closed out.

Material Storage & Protection

  • Ensure that all materials on the job meet the requirements of the construction docs including but not limited construction plans, shop drawings, and/or manufacturer printed instructions.
  • Ensure that all materials are properly secured and protected at the jobsite.
  • Ensure that all material is stored and installed within the correct environmental conditions.

Roof Installation

  • Inspect substrates at the time of the visit and ensure that all is acceptable before installation of roof system.
  • Ensure that the specifications shop drawings and scope of work are being followed exactly.
  • Ensure that all materials are installed with correct adhesives and fasteners in the correct fastening pattern.
  • Ensure that all materials are installed with the correct lapping, jointing, and staggering as required
  • Ensure that all materials are installed at the correct heat and rate, as required.
  • Ensure that all materials are installed at correct mil or thickness rate
  • Ensure that all trash is properly secured and protected at the jobsite.
  • Ensure that all safety equipment, specifically warning lines and stands are properly secured at the jobsite, especially when high winds are in the forecast.
  • Provide and document quality control photos and summaries of the aforementioned items in your Daily Reports
  • Ensure that all RRCI Company Policies and Procedures are being followed.
  • Ensure that housekeeping being monitored daily
  • Prior to a rain event, inspect the most susceptible projects and ensure that night tie-ins are in place.
  • Check overall quality of each project during site inspections.

Project Reporting

  • Provide Daily Reports within 24 hours of completion including:
  • Weather
  • Crew size
  • Subs Onsite
  • Specific Area of Work
  • Summary of Work
  • Squares or Linear Feet Complete
  • Hours Worked
  • Visitors to the site
  • Deliveries
  • Photos of: Delivered Materials. All existing conditions prior to starting weather, roof, building, MEP, all other trades, etc. Demolition process and demolished material conditions. Existing substrates, condition of existing substrates after prep, condition of new materials prior to start, fastening or adhesive pattern of installed product, staggering or lapping of installed products, deck replacement or infill’s, nailer and/or framing Installation, Sheet Metal Installation & Underlayments, Fluid Applied flashing/coating including coverage rates or mils, all QC testing, roof conditions upon completion, Material storage, Incidents
  • Any deficiencies will be documented in the Daily Report and communicated to the Foreman, Project Manager, and Manager of Operations.

Commercial Roofing Superintendent Measurement of performance

  • Perform all duties outlined in the job description and standard procedure to their fullest extent.
  • Manage your business daily through communication, professionalism, respect, organization, and efficiency.
  • Perform duties and be held accountable per items as described in Operations
  • Quality, consistency, and timely submission of daily documents required per job.
