TreePeople is an environmental nonprofit organization that mobilizes individuals, families, communities, philanthropists, and public agencies to work together to create green, resilient communities by providing education on the benefits of planting trees, and capturing the rainwater greening schools, and providing fun environmental educational activities. TreePeople unites with communities to grow a greener, shadier and more water-secure region at homes, neighborhoods, schools and in the local mountains.
TreePeople is seeking an energetic and passionate Regional Coordinator to help lead TreePeople's Natural Connections Program in the South Los Angeles area. TreePeople’s Natural Connections Program works to aid underserved communities, experiencing a lack of access to outdoor, natural spaces in the acquisition of tools, resources and information needed for the facilitation of new experiences out in nature.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate nature trips to outdoor settings, including booking tours, transportation, and catering for events.
- Build, establish and maintain partnerships with schools, administrators, school districts, and youth that inspire, engage and support people to take personal responsibility for the urban environment.
- Work in coordination with TreePeople’s greater Marketing and Communications team to advertise and coordinate nature trips.
- Recruit and network with teachers and students to encourage them to participate in the Natural Connections program, guiding outdoor nature trips that help youth, community and family groups build connections with nature.
- Manage TreePeople’s educator and administrator contact database.
- Facilitate outreach opportunities at educator conferences and community events, giving presentations about Natural Connections in school district meetings and local events targeted to youth, community and family groups.
- Produce high caliber, professional style memorandums and written correspondence
- Post-event information collection, tracking and reporting.
- Salesforce maintenance of all contacts and nature trip tracking.
- Support the Eco-Tours program: ensuring the accomplishment of field trips to Coldwater Canyon Park by a wide array of family groups and students across all of Los Angeles County.
- Represent TreePeople and the Natural Connections Program in the community.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Passionate about local climate resilience, and environmental issues impacting underserved communities.
- Able to work outside for hours at a time during tree planting events, tree care events, and canvassing.
- Able to dig holes, lift heavy equipment and planting materials, including 15-gallon shade trees, 5-gallon water buckets, and tools.
- Able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds
- Able to stand and walk for long periods.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
- Able to drive to schools and other locations.
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination required.
