Under the guidance of Reliability Manager, performs in-house Predictive Maintenance (Pd.M.) services; as well as technical assistance to production, Maintenance Departments, Engineering, project management and outside consultants/contractors. Provides training when needed concerning Predictive Maintenance (Pd.M.) throughout the facility.
This position generates and oversees a predicted workload of future potential failures. The maintenance staff is responsible for correcting these potential problems, but this position may assist with troubleshooting and failure analysis to support these corrections.
Supports the vision, mission, and quality goals of Optimus Steel. Especially supports the guidance and vision of the Equipment Reliability Process (ERP).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Asset Reliability scheduling and planning activities as required.
- Develop Pd.M. routes, gather route readings, analyze route readings, provide assessment, and follow-up reporting. Establish new equipment baselines when required. Daily focus will be on PMs / Pd.Ms.’, and the results of PMs and Pd.Ms.’ using routes.
- Follow a daily route-focused effort to monitor and predict downtime events.
- Generates Work Orders from the Pd.M. effort and conducts rigorous follow-up. Reports non-compliance to Asset Reliability Manager and others as required.
- Uses analytical skills to identify and eliminate recurrent equipment failures.
- Provide team support to develop maintenance training, maintenance procedures, and preventive/predictive maintenance programs for critical equipment within the facility. Participation as a resource in Kaizen events when directed.
- Assist in the review and update of Preventive maintenance job plans, as well as the development of other Pd.M. related job plans as the need arises.
- Utilize SAP and other data sources to track equipment repair history/costs to develop, implement and enhance proactive, pre failure repair planning.
- Install/maintain Pd.M. equipment and test points.
- Accompany and assist predictive contractor(s) when required.
- Accountable for Pd.M. performance (KPI based)
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist asset reliability manager when required for support of the PM and Pd.M. effort.
- Assist in the preparation of necessary reports to management.
- Tracks and complies history of “lessons learned" from Pd.M. history. Analyzes methods of improving the work process in terms of detection or prevention. Supports failure analysis efforts.
- Continuous development of Pd.M. skills. Acts as a mentoring resource for training maintenance technicians in ERP.
- Perform other duties as assigned and directed by Asset Reliability Manager.
Detect and report faulty material, environmental hazards, and/or improper operation of plant equipment or machinery; refer questionable and unusual matters to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clear and orderly fashion. Follow all safety regulations and practices.
Requires extensive knowledge of mechanics, controls, electricity, electronic/controls, hydraulic, and pneumatics. Requires broad specialized training equal to two years of technical college with knowledge of manufacturing and maintenance methods. Requires continuing education to procure and maintain Pd.M. skills.
Over 5 years and up to and including 7 years of work experience in mechanics, controls, electricity, electronic/controls, hydraulic, and pneumatics and structural knowledge. Experience with predictive techniques and tools and minimum level 2 in vibration, thermography, ultrasound
of the time.
